Duke & Evie

We are nearing the end of a long and lovely visit, and we're enjoying a pretty typical morning. Evie insists she will expire immediately if she doesn't get breakfast right now, while Duke begs for just another 20 minutes of sleep.

Ka-Boom?

When is it a blessing to being caring for a deaf dog? When it's 4th of July weekend in the lively neighborhood of Bernal Heights. Although the world outside this sweet cottage is beginning to explode with fireworks, Ming and I are nothing but peaceful and calm, and plan on staying that way throughout all of the booming madness.

At the ripe old age of 15, Ming attributes his long life to taking the time to enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer, a leisurely morning stroll through the garden being high on the list.

GromKitty

This hectic Half Moon Bay home is seemingly reigned supreme by two rambunctious St. Bernards. All day long they love to entertain me by wrestling and running and slamming into each other, and each hilarious playtime is punctuated by power naps, complete with heavy breathing and drooling. And yet somehow, amidst the madness,

GromKitty always manages to find a serene spot to sit and reflect on the world outside, refreshing himself by calmly sniffing the ocean breezes.

When Desi is struck by inspiration, he likes to get to work quickly and quietly. He prefers to do most of his work in the middle of the night when he is less likely to be interrupted in his creative process. I love what he did here, using just a single roll of white Quilted Northern. It shows that he can be soft and sweet, but with an irrepressible wild streak. It's pure genius and I believe he has every reason to be proud.

Cutie pie Cleo

On this sunny Sunday morning, my good friend Cleo had the gracious good manners to let me sleep all the way until 6:30. Wow! Then she entertained me for the better part of an hour by frolicking around the house like a little kitten. So adorable! And as I write this, she is curled up behind me on the couch, kneading her little paws into my lower back, giving me a much needed massage. I think she may be the perfect hostess!
